Photo of a black-collared hawk made by J. Ribot in the ricefields of Nickerie in 2006. A coastal bird often found near water: it eats fish and sometimes small animals from the water. It is common near mangroves and around water in the coastal plains of Suriname. The photo below show a adult bird bringing fish to the nest and below that a young in its nest (with streaks) waiting for the food, both made by Foek Chin Joe in November 2006 at Charlesburg.The third photo below this text was made by Dennis Binda in Suriname in 2008, a young bird. The a photo by Pascal Dubois in French Guyane in 2002 and the last one by Tony Henneberg also from Suriname.
