Above a photo of a captured Crested Eagle made by J. Schultz. Below two pictures of a young? exhausted bird found in the forest on the ground in the West of Suriname by Dinesh Ramlal. In Suriname this eagle is less common than a Harpy Eagle. which it resembles. Nothing much is known from its habits in Suriname, except that it sometimes wanders to the coast as you can see on the map below and that it is mostly seen within the forest.

Each small square indicates the observation of at least one of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest. The bird is rare everywhere and the diference with the Harpy is often difficult to see.
